YOUTH SEMINARS/ DJ LESSONS/ ROLE MODELLING
DJ Poroufessor spends a great deal of time working and inspiring youth. Alfriston College hosted Hone as part of their guest artists in schools programme. sSpeaking to the school about his journey and career as an artist/dj/maori role model and also gave a dj demonstration that saw them have a go at djing.
He returned to the school a few days later to dj during one of their lunchtime sessions ending my week of DJ Poroufessors School antics. Boy can these kids KRUMP! Thanks to Alfriston College, Amy Taite & Dwayne Hudson.
He also hit the road and Dj'd at Waitangi on Waitangi day Feb 6th phew there were heaps of people all getting down to his Poi E Remix!!! returning to teach the local kids to DJ at the Clendon Manurewa Library Complex.
CYFS Residential Manurewa has also had Hone come and talk/perform to the inhouse children in their care. Awesome work to CYFs for utlising new intiatives to form new interventions for our young people. We need to take care of our families and encourage our young people in their aspirations. Drop an inquiry if your from a Education Institution. Hone has co ordinated/ dj'd workshops/ teach dj lessons, talk about NZ Grafitti Art (I also paint too) He likes to visit all kinds of institutions and use my talents to help activities for the students.
These could be Education Institutions, CYPFS care centres, Marae based centers, Youth drop In Centres and the like... Dj Poroufessor is interested.
DJ Poroufessor has been a NZMIC Mentor in Schools Teacher for a few years now. A Ministry of Education funded programme this takes us (Musicians) into schools enabling students to get first hand info from their role models, it also means artists get to do their thing in the schools...lastly its free for the school!
