ART & SOUL
Visual Art is also a big part of Hones life, hes produced work for corporate and private collections and recieved awards for illustration work. Hes exhibited in galleries throughout New Zealand first showing my work at the age of 11 at the Nga Puna Waihanga (Maori Artists & Writers Society) Conference in Gisborne. Currently enjoying recent Illustration projects such as the Wai Ora Water campaign work (ARC Auckland Regional Council).
Hone was selected to design, carve and paint a Waharoa (Gateway) for Aucklands refurbished Whitireia Polytechnic on Queen Street, Auckland. This was unveiled by The Mayor Of Auckland Dick Hubbard.
Curatorial experience: Hone has worked as a Museum Curator in Tauranga, exhibition hand at the Bathouse in Rotorua resulting in 14 months placement at Field Museum Of Natural History in Chicago USA.
He was employed as a Anthropology Intern enjoying the fast paced living of USA spending 14 months in Chicago USA. Hes was part of a large Team of Experts restoring 'Ruatepupuke' an 18th century Meeting House from Tokomaru Bay returning to NZ he proceeded to carve Kahutapu- his Mothers Meeting House in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty.
